Blades vs. Rack Servers

Blades servers are a great choice for IT shops when there are concerns about space, centralized management, power and cooling in the data center. Blade servers are designed to share certain components which allow them to be placed closer together and take up less space in a rack than a similar number of rack servers. Because blade servers share power supplies and fans, blade servers consume less power and require less cooling when compared to similar rack servers. Once the initial setup of the blade servers has been completed, blade server management is typically easier because blade servers come with centralized management software for management of all the blade servers from a single console.
