Cisco® is dissolving its Essential Operate Service (ESW) and Unified Communications Software Subscription (UCSS) and rolling out a new offering: Cisco Software Support Service (SWSS). In addition to learning a new acronym, the change will impact Cisco customers in a variety of ways when SWSS hits the market on September 22. Don’t panic. This update will actually streamline Cisco maintenance and make customers very happy. Here’s what you need to know:
One Service, Many Products
A big pain point for our customers is keeping all their licences and support contracts organized. For a large organization, this could mean hundreds of service agreements to keep track of with varying expiration dates and terms. It’s overwhelming and could cost you when there’s a lapse in coverage. SWSS will cover ESW, UCSS and more than a dozen other product lines moving forward.
One Service, Lots of Support
The breadth of the new SWSS offering stretches wide. The consolidated service will cover all levels of UC upgrades and maintenance as well as support. With SWSS, customers will soon have access to:
- Cisco’s Technical Assistance Center (TAC) which includes 24/7 phone support for technical and maintenance issues
- Cisco’s robust online troubleshooting tools
- Application maintenance, release updates and upgrades
One Seamless Transition
If you’re currently under contract with either ESW or UCSS, you will continue to receive the same support throughout the duration of your contract agreement. However, after September 22 any renewals or new purchases will automatically include SWSS in the package.
